Links 2001: "Access Violation in Graphics Manager" Error Message When You Play Links (321755)

SYMPTOMS

When you play Links, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
EXCEPTION : Access violation in GraphicsManager::Load()+0xAD66
Address : 0x0058B656
Location : GraphicsManager::Load()+0xAD66

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the animated character files are corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps to remove and reinstall Links.
  1. NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Links 2001, and then click Add/Remove.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove Links.
  6. Right-click Start, and then click Explore.
  7. Locate and then open the folder that contains the Links 2001 folder.

    NOTE: By default, Links 2001 is installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games.
  8. Right-click the Links 2001 folder, and then click Delete.

    When you are prompted to confirm the folder deletion, click Yes.
  9. Insert Links 2001 Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Links 2001.
