The Startup Sound Is Not Played Correctly When You Start Windows (321735)

SYMPTOMS

Your startup sound may sound choppy, contain popping sounds, or pause while it is played. This issue occurs only with some hardware devices and drivers loaded. This issue does not affect the functionality of Windows XP.

To turn off the startup sound, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
  3. Click the Sounds tab.
  4. Under Program events, click Start Windows.
  5. In the Sounds box, click (None), and then click OK.
