FIX: Zeros Returned Incorrectly from OLAP Data Source with Calculated Measures (321719)

SYMPTOMS

If you build a PivotTable in Excel 2000 by using a SQL Server Analysis Services cube as the data source, and calculated measures are added to the data area of the PivotTable, the values that display in the PivotTable are zero (0), even though the Analysis Manager Cube Browser and Microsoft Excel 2002 display data values.

This problem only occurs if the definition for the calculated measure that is being displayed references another calculated measure that uses the Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) DistinctCount function.

CAUSE

A problem with the DistinctCount function in SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: The following hotfix was created before the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3.

STATUS
