A spindown request does not spin down a hard disk on a Windows Millennium Edition-based computer (321635)

SYMPTOMS

When a spindown request is sent to the hard disk on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, the hard disk may not spin down. The hard disk heads remain over the platter on the hard disk.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you have installed the hotfix for Windows Millennium Edition that is described in the following Knowledge Base article:
