FIX: Visio 2002 unexpectedly quits when you close an ORM Source Model after you use the Undo Paste command (321571)

SYMPTOMS

When you close an Object Role Modeling (ORM) Source Model after you use the Undo Paste command, Microsoft Visio unexpectedly quits.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can obtain the latest service release for Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects 2002. For additional information, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To work around this problem without installing the Microsoft Visio for Enterprise Architects 2002 SR-1 update, you must restart Visio after it closes. Any changes that have not been saved will be lost when you restart.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Visio for Enterprise Architects 2002 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Microsoft Visio.
  2. On the File menu, point to New, point to Database, and then click ORM Source Model.
  3. On the Database menu, point to View, and then click Fact Editor.
  4. On the Fact tab, type A in the left Object Name list.
  5. Type has in the Relationship box.
  6. Type B in the right Object Name list, and then click OK.
  7. In the Contents window, drag the A has B fact type onto the ORM Source Model drawing grid.
  8. On the ORM Source Model drawing grid, select the A has B diagram. To make sure you select the complete diagram, click Select All on the Edit menu.
  9. On the Edit menu, click Copy, click Paste, and then click Undo Paste.
  10. On the File menu, click Close. Do not save your changes.

    Notice that Visio quits unexpectedly.
