When You Use a Drag-and-Drop Operation to Move a Document from SharePoint Portal Server to a Word E-Mail Message, the Result Is Different Than When You Use the "Attach" Button (321540)

SYMPTOMS

If you use a drag-and-drop operation to move a document from a Web folder on a SharePoint Portal Server computer to a Microsoft Word mail message, a link to the document is attached. However, if you use the Attach button, use My Network Places to locate the folder, and then insert the document, the document is inserted as an attachment.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next SharePoint Portal Server 2001 service pack that contains this hotfix.
