SUMMARY

When you insert <script> tags in a placeholder, you receive the following error message when you save the file:
Invalid content of formatting was found and was stripped out when saved. Check the placeholder properties for allowed content and formatting.

According to the Content Management Server (CMS) 2001 Release Notes (located in the Readme text file in the root folder of the CMS 2001 CD), Web Author removes all contents between <script> and </script> tags and also the tags themselves:
Multipurpose placeholders and tags being removed

When using the <script> and <object> tags in multipurpose placeholders
that have been enabled for HTML source editing, be aware that the Web
Author removes these tags and everything in between.
