Troubleshooting
The password may expire or be changed without the knowledge of the CMS administrator because of domain global policies that are enforced on user passwords. If this occurs, CMS does not function correctly. When you start the SCA, you receive the following error messages when you click some of the tabs:
NOTE: You do not receive an error message when you click the
Web tab or the
License tab.
- General tab:
Unexpected Error! Failed to GlobalSetting General.
- Cache tab:
Unexpected Error! Failed to get MaxCache Size.
- Access tab:
Unexpected Error! Failed to get User Authentication Settings.
- Security tab:
Unexpected Error! Failed to get Security Service.
These error messages may also contain the following information:
Extended error: [What='NCompass Resolution Security Service could log into Resolution System Account DOMAIN/Username, due to error 0x52e'] [LCID='2057']
[SourceFile='P:\nr\Server\AESecurityService\AESecurityManager.cpp'] [SourceFileLine='1422'] [DebugInfo=''] [RecommendedAction='Please verify that the username and password are correct for the Resolution System Account']
[ExtraInfo=''] [UniqueErrorId='2001'] [Severity='5'] [Source='C:\Program Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Server\bin\AESecurityService.exe'] [CategoryId='0']
If you receive one or all of these error messages, follow the steps that are listed in the "Change the CMS System Account Password" section of this article to reset the password.
After you complete these steps, you may receive the following error message:
Unexpected Error! Failed to get Security Service.
If you receive this error message, check the system account name to see if any additional backslash (\) characters have been added. Correct the system account name (by deleting the surplus backslash characters), retype the user password, and then click
OK.
You must follow the same steps for the CMS 2001 RTM version without Service Pack 1 applied.
