XGEN: You Receive an NDR If You Send a Message to a Public Folder (321334)

You may receive the following non-delivery report (NDR) if you send a message to a public folder:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject:
Sent: 4/11/2002 9:38 AM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
on 4/11/2002 9:49 AM
The message was undeliverable because the recipient specified in the recipient postal address refused to accept the message

Additionally, if a replica of this public folder exists on a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5, Exchange Server 5.5 users can send messages to it. Exchange 2000 users can also send messages to this folder. However, you receive an NDR if you send a message from Exchange Server 5.5 to a replica of the folder that exists on Exchange 2000.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the complete name of the public folder, which includes the Exchange 2000 organization name plus the Exchange 2000 site name plus the public folder name, is longer than 64 characters.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, reduce the length of the public folder name.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
