An Empty Folder Stops Responding on an Extranet Site (321301)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to locate an empty folder in the document library of an extranet SharePoint Portal Server Web site, the server may seem to stop responding on the extranet site, even though intranet Web sites remain unaffected.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

NOTE: This is a server fix. Therefore, you have to apply this fix only to the server that is running SharePoint Portal Server 2001.
