SYMPTOMS

When you refresh a database model diagram from a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database, the Refresh Model wizard dialog box may close unexpectedly. Additionally, you can click the Visio task on the Microsoft Windows task bar, but you cannot interact with the application. Visio appears to stop responding (hang), and you must end the task by using Task Manager, although the application is not listed as Not Responding.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:
  • You have Microsoft Visio Professional 2002, Visio Professional 2002 SR1, or Visio for Enterprise Architects.
  • You are modeling a SQL Server 2000 database.
  • You are using the Refresh Database Model wizard in Visio to verify that your model diagram reflects the current state of the database that it represents.
