Money 2002: "Out of Memory" Error Message or Money Unexpectedly Quits When You Try to View a Customized Report (321085)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to view a customized report in Microsoft Money 2002, you may receive an error message similar to the following:
There has been an error reading or writing the file. Out of memory error.
Or Money 2002 quits and the desktop is displayed on your computer.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the customization settings that are added to a Money 2002 report or chart are corrupted.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, delete all of the favorite reports from the Report Gallery, and then reset all of the customized reports. To do this, follow these steps.

NOTE: Make a backup of the current file before you continue to the following steps.

If the error that causes report or chart is in the My Favorites list, these steps delete the report. You must re-create the report after you finish these steps. Before you follow these steps, make sure that you have all of the information that you need to re-create these reports.
  1. On the Reports menu, click Report Gallery.
  2. In the left pane, click My Favorites.
  3. Click each report, and then click Delete.
  4. In the left pane, click the list of reports and charts in which the report or chart that causes the error is located.
  5. Click the report or chart that causes the error.
  6. Click Reset.
  7. When you are prompted to confirm, click Yes.

    Money resets the report or chart to its default settings.
