You Cannot Open Links to Renamed Web Folders from an Office "File Open" Dialog Box (321066)

This article was previously published under Q321066 SYMPTOMS After you apply the Q311740_deu_admin.exe fix, if you open
the File Open dialog box in a Microsoft Office program, click My Network Places in the Look In list, and then double-click a link to a Web folder on a computer
that is running SharePoint Portal Server, you may not be able to gain access to

This problem may occur if:
- The link in My Network Places points to a folder that is located on a level below the
SharePoint Portal Server documents folder. -and-
- The name of the link was edited so that the first character
in the name is a number.
The same shortcut works correctly if:
- You click the shortcut in the My Network Places folder.
-or-
- You open the shortcut in the File Open dialog box in Microsoft Wordpad or Microsoft Notepad.
RESOLUTIONTo
resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft SharePoint
Portal Server 2001.
