The Format() Function Gives Different Results in Windows XP Than in Windows 2000 (321047)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional

This article was previously published under Q321047

SYMPTOMS

The Format function in Windows XP has changed. Numbers are rounded differently than they are in all other versions of Windows (such as Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows 95). For example, if you format the number 125.245:

Result in Windows 2000: 125.25
Result in Windows XP: 125.24
