Hotfix Information
A supported fix is now available
from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is
described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing
this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if
you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you
wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

NOTE: In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for

After you apply this hotfix, restart your computer, and then
configure the default settings for your modem in Device Manager:
- Click Start, point to Program Files, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Computer Management.
- Click Device Manager.
- Expand the modem branch, right-click your modem, and then
click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Change Default Preferences.
- Configure the modem settings that you want to use, click OK, and then click OK.
Windows XP
