PUB2002: Cannot Save over Existing File on Removable Drive (320947)

SYMPTOMS

When you save a file to a removable drive such as a universal serial bus (USB) or SCSI Zip drive or a USB or SCSI Magneto Optical (MO) drive, you may receive the following error message:
There is no disk in the floppy drive or the drive door is not closed.
Please make sure that the floppy drive is ready, then try again

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you do not have administrative rights on the system where the removable drive is located. The way that Publisher tries to change the active drive letter requires you to have administrative rights.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 2 (SP-2).
