SYMPTOMS

When you configure your Pocket PC 2002-based device for mail, you may receive a blank error message dialog box.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you type a half-width, double-byte character (such as the Japanese Yen symbol) in the Name box of the Account Information page of the E-mail Setup Wizard.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, note that the name of your POP3 server must start with a full-width, double-byte character.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
