PRB: Cluster Members Must Be Members of the Same Domain (320786)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Application Center 2000

This article was previously published under Q320786

SYMPTOMS

When you try to add a cluster member to an existing Application Center 2000 cluster that is in a different domain or workgroup, you may receive the following error message:
"Error: 0xc014000e
The server is part of a different domain/workgroup than the cluster controller."

CAUSE

When you add cluster members to an existing Application Center 2000 cluster, the members must be in the same domain or workgroup to belong in the same cluster.

For replication efficiency, instead of trying to scan the metabase every time it replicates, Application Center 2000 verifies domain membership when you run the Add Cluster Member Wizard.

The common workgroup environment is needed to make sure that Application Center has good NETBIOS name resolution from the master browse list.

RESOLUTION

Add cluster members that are part of the same domain or workgroup as the cluster controller.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
