FIX: Error Message "Unable to open cellset. Cannot connect to server" Occurs When a Query is Sent to Analysis Services (320710)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services
This article was previously published under Q320710 BUG #: 12775 (plato7X) SYMPTOMS When you run queries from an Analysis Services client
application, the queries fail with this error message: Unable to open cellset Cannot connect to the server
'ServerName'. The server is either not started or too busy. The
following event is also written to the Application Event Log on the Analysis
Server at approximately the same time that the error message occurs on the
client: Unexpected fatal error occurred. Attempting to
restart server. This problem occurs when the query includes a
dimension, which has dimension level security defined and the query is resolved
by Analysis Server instead of using the client side cache. RESOLUTIONThe English version of this fix should have the following
