Rasman.dll Does Not Convert DNS Names to IP Addresses (320450)

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to connect to a virtual private networking (VPN) server if you specify the VPN server by using a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) in Windows NT 4.0.

CAUSE

Windows NT 4.0 does not convert FQDNs to IP addresses when you connect to a VPN server.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
