FIX: EnableDeveloperTricks Must Be Set to True for the mailto Tag to Work Properly (320420)

SYMPTOMS

The mailto: URL does not work on production systems.

CAUSE

You must redirect mailto: through the wtv-nt-tricks application (the URL must become a trusted page). Microsoft TV Server 1.0 permits this to occur only when the EnableDeveloperTricks configuration option is set to true. This option is set to false in all production systems.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the latest service pack for Microsoft TV Server. In Microsoft TV Server 1.0 Service Pack 2, mailto: URLs work properly regardless of the state of the EnableDeveloperTricks configuration option.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Microsoft TV Server 1.0 Service Pack 2.
