INFO: Placeholder Only Emits Raw HTML in Internet Explorer for Macintosh and in Netscape (320413)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 SP1
- NCompass Resolution 4.0
This article was previously published under Q320413 SUMMARY
When you use the Web Author client in Internet Explorer for Macintosh, or when you use Netscape, the appearance and functionality of the placeholder is different from when you use the Windows version of Internet Explorer.
MORE INFORMATION
In the Web Author client, when you are in Live mode, everything appears as expected. However, when you switch to Edit mode, the placeholder appearance is different, whether you are using the ActiveX placeholder or the DHTML placeholder.
Placeholders are instantiated as a text area HTML form element, which shows the HTML markup directly instead of rendering the HTML. No rich text editing is available for the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer or for Netscape. Because of this, no toolbar is available. Users must type the HTML markup directly.
