Office Keyboard: The Hot Keys for Microsoft Office Keyboard Do Not Work as Expected (320366)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Microsoft Office Keyboard Hot Keys, the Hot Keys do not perform their specified functions.

NOTE: Hot Keys are the buttons that are located across the top of your Office Keyboard and along the left side of your Office Keyboard.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur when the Type32.exe file is not included in the startup group.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, add Type32.exe to the startup group, and then remove and reinstall the IntelliType software. To do this, follow these steps.

Add Type32.exe to the Startup Group

  1. Click Start, and then click Search.
  2. In the left pane, click All files and folders.
  3. In the All or part of the file name box, type type32.exe, and then click Search.
  4. When the search process is complete, right-click Type32.exe, and then click Create Shortcut.

    NOTE: If more than one file is found, look at the file path to verify that the file is associated with IntelliType.
  5. Right-click Start, and then click Open.
  6. Double-click Programs, and then double-click Startup.
  7. On the Desktop, drag Shortcut to Type32.exe to the Startup folder.
  8. Restart your computer.

Uninstall and Reinstall IntelliType Software

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of installed programs, click IntelliType, and then click Remove.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to completely remove the software.
  5. Insert your IntelliType software.
  6. If the installation process does not start automatically, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  7. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  8. In the left pane, click Add New Programs.
  9. In the right pane, click CD or Floppy.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
