MQSeries bridge pipes may fail intermittently (320242)

The information in this article applies to:

  • MSMQ - MQSeries Bridge

This article was previously published under Q320242

SYMPTOMS

MQSeries to Microsoft Message Queuing pipes may fail intermittently. Messages may be placed in the MQBridge Dead Letter queue with a class of MQMSG_CLASS_NACK_BAD_DST_Q.

NoteMicrosoft Message Queuing is also known as MSMQ.

CAUSE

When you send report messages from MQSeries to an Message Queuing queue with an MQMD.Feedback field value of MQFB_PAN or MQFB_NAN, the pipe over which the messages are sent fails. Report translation and the translation of feedback options are checked for specific values. If values are not recognized, an error occurs.

RESOLUTION

There are separate fixes for Host Integration Server 2000 and for Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Server 4.0.

Host Integration Server 2000

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. MORE INFORMATION

The MSMQ-MQSeries Bridge translation now translates the appropriate values and ignores the inappropriate values. These values are available to the application program in the MQSeries message descriptor (MQMD) that is placed in the MSMQ Extension Property application programming interface (API).
