SYMPTOMS

Internet Explorer may route a local Web site request to a proxy server, even if the local Web site is in the proxy exclusion list.

CAUSE

If more than 252 characters are typed in the proxy exclusion list, the Do not use proxy server for local Intranet address check box is incorrectly unchecked when you click OK.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
