SYMPTOMS

When you use the Database Model Diagram solution in Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional, there is no option with which to generate database schema or Data Definition Language (DDL) scripts. The Generate command is not displayed on the Database menu as it is in Microsoft Visio 2000 Enterprise Edition and Microsoft Visio 5.0 Enterprise.

CAUSE

The Generate feature is not available with the Database Model Diagram solution in Visio 2002 Professional.

In Visio 2002, the Generate feature and other advanced database modeling features are included with Microsoft Visio Enterprise Architect. Visio Enterprise Architect includes full-featured database and software modeling solutions in addition to all of the solutions that are in Visio 2002 Professional. Visio Enterprise Architect is available only as a part of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect.
