Media Player for Pocket PC Does Not Work After You Change the Regional Settings (319822)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Media Player for Pocket PC

This article was previously published under Q319822

SYMPTOMS

After you change the regional settings on your Japanese-language Pocket PC-based device, Media Player for Pocket PC may not work correctly.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur because the current ANSI code page changes when you change the regional setting. If you change to the USA region, CP_ACP uses English ANSI code page 1252, and the file system cannot properly convert double-byte characters.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, change the regional settings back to Japanese.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
