Connected Pages Display "Waiting for Moderator Approval" Status When No Moderator Is Assigned (319742)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Content Management Server (CMS) Web Author, a connected page that is not explicitly approved by the editor or the administrator may display a status of Waiting for Moderator Approval even though no moderator is assigned for the channel on which the posting is located. This behavior does not occur with the Site Builder.

CAUSE

When the editor approves a connected page, the page that is displayed on the Web browser goes through automatic moderator approval and goes to production in the absence of an assigned moderator in the channel on which the posting is located. However, because connected pages are essentially the same as one page with two postings, the page that is associated with the posting is approved when an editor approves the posting in the Web Author, and the status of the connected page that the editor does not explicitly approve changes to Waiting for Moderator Approval.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, the editor must approve the initial posting before the editor creates and approves a connected page for that posting.

The steps for this workaround are as follows:

The author creates a new page, and then submits the new page to the editor.
The editor approves the initial page.
The editor creates and approves a connected page. After the editor creates and approves the connected page, both the initial page and the connected page are posted.
