"Rapid Portal Application Component Details" White Paper Does Not Exist (319657)

SYMPTOMS

Appendix B of the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Resource Kit states that the "RapPort Application Component Details" white paper, which describes the Rapid Portal (RapPort) tool, is available at the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/SharePoint/

This information is not correct.

CAUSE

Microsoft planned for the "RapPort Application Component Details" white paper when the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Resource Kit was created; however, Microsoft canceled the white paper after the Resource Kit was released. The "RapPort Application Component Details" white paper was never written.

WORKAROUND

If you download the RapPort tool, you also receive the "Deploying Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Across Multiple Sites Using RapPort" white paper. This white paper is a reprint of Chapter 14 from the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Resource Kit, and it contains detailed information about the architecture and usage of the RapPort tool.
