Cannot Manage Cluster Resource If Possible Owners Are Down (319552)

SYMPTOMS

If all possible owners are down, a cluster resource cannot be managed. Additionally, Cluster Administrator (Cluadmin.exe) does not display a possible node list if a control code fails.

Typically, if you are running a Windows 2000 Datacenter Server four-node cluster that is installed with a Microsoft Exchange Server configuration that has three active nodes and one passive node, when all four nodes are down and one node starts, the first node starts and all of the Exchange Server resources come online. The Exchange Server resources also come online if all four nodes are down and the second node starts.

RESOLUTION
