XADM: Anonymous Logon Deny ACE Is Removed When You Modify an ACL in Public Folders (319550)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Exchange Installable File System (drive M) to modify an Access Control List (ACL) on a folder in the Public Folders folder, the default "NT Authority\Anonymous logon" Access Control Entry (ACE) is removed from the ACL.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

Microsoft recommends that you do not change any permissions manually by using the Exchange Installable File System (drive M). To change permissions correctly on public folders, use either a MAPI client (such as Microsoft Outlook) or Exchange System Manager.
