Site Stager Log Files Are Not Generated When You Stage a Site (319316)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Content Management Server 2001

This article was previously published under Q319316

SYMPTOMS

When you use Site Stager to stage a site, the site stages successfully but the Site Stager log files are not generated.

CAUSE

A log file is created each time that Site Stager activates a profile, either automatically or manually. The name of each log file is based on the details of the profile session, including the profile name and the time at which it was activated, as follows:

profile name_year_month_day_hours_minutes_seconds_{GUID}.log

If you use illegal characters in the staging profile name, an illegal file name is generated and no stager log file is created.

RESOLUTION

Do not use illegal characters such as & when you name your Site Stager profiles.
