Error Message After Upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional: There Was an Error When Printing the Document to LPT1 (319119)

After you upgrade your computer to Windows 2000 Professional, you may experience the following behaviors:
- When you attempt to print a document, you receive the following error message:
There was an error found when printing the document document name to LPT1.
Do you want to retry or cancel the job?
-and-
- When you view the printer port information in Device Manager, the device may be reported as nonactive with a status of "Code 29: Firmware not correctly installed."
-and- - When you uninstall the printer port and then restart the computer, Windows automatically detects the printer port, but you may receive the following error message:
This device is disabled because the firmware of this device did not give it the required resources (Code 29).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the parallel port in the computer basic input/output system (BIOS) is set to OS Controlled or Automatic.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, change the parallel port settings in the computer BIOS from OS Controlled or Automatic to Enabled.
