The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001
- Microsoft Office XP
- Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange 2000
This article was previously published under Q319105 SUMMARY
Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange 2000 (CDOEX) is installed by Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 (SPS) server and client, and all versions of Microsoft Office XP. However, any CDOEX code that requires any interfaces, properties and methods, that are not supported by the CDO for Windows 2000 (CDOSYS), a subset of CDOEX, is only supported if the code is running on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server computer.
MORE INFORMATION
CDOEX is a superset of CDOSYS. Before the release of SPS and Office XP, CDOEX was installed only with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. CDOSYS is installed with Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP.
CDOEX is installed by the SPS server or client or by Office XP as a dependency of the PKMCDO object model. PKMCDO has been tested using CDOEX, but this testing was limited to the ways that PKMCDO uses CDOEX, not the ways that a developer might use it. Therefore, support for the use of the CDOEX library on systems where Exchange 2000 Server is not installed is limited to the subset of CDOEX functionality that is the equivalent of what is included with the CDOSYS library.
If your application requires that you make a reference to the CDOSYS Library, you can make a reference to the CDOEX library instead. As long as you limit your code to CDOSYS functionality, it will still be supported.
