Wldap32 Truncates the ";binary" Option in the Search Filter (319102)

SYMPTOMS

If you add certificates to the directory, and if the add request contains the ";binary" (without the quotation marks) tag, the ";binary" attribute is appended to all certificates. If you try to search Active Directory by using the ";binary" tag, the directory search returns no results (whether or not the record was added with the ";binary" attribute).

CAUSE

The ";binary" search option is truncated by a Windows 2000-based Active Directory Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server or Windows 2000-based LDAP client. Therefore, an Active Directory search with the ";binary" option returns no results.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
