Game Voice: Error Message: "Your Sound Device Cannot Play Back Sounds" or "No Sound Card Detected" (318937)

When you attempt to install SideWinder Game Voice, you receive an error message similar to one of the following:
No sound card detected.
Your sound device cannot play back sounds.
Your sound hardware cannot play sounds. Contact your vendor for more information.
CAUSE
This issue can occur when your computer has a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, set the hardware acceleration to Basic. This causes Game Voice to recognize the sound card. After the configuration is complete, reset the hardware acceleration to Full. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type dxdiag.exe, and then click OK.
- On the Sound tab, move the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider to one notch from the left end (Basic acceleration), and then click Exit.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and then click SideWinder Game Voice.
- Click OK, and then follow the onscreen instructions in the Sound Hardware Test Wizard.
The sound hardware test should be successful. - Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type dxdiag.exe, and then click OK.
- On the Sound tab, move the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider to the right end (Full acceleration), and then click Exit.
