WD2002: Footnote ScreenTip May Not Be Displayed (318865)

SYMPTOMS

When you pause the mouse pointer over a footnote, the ScreenTip may not be displayed as expected, and the pointer may flicker when you pause it over the footnote.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur in Print Layout view.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Document Map. This makes the Document Map pane visible on your screen.
  2. On the View menu, click Document Map to hide the Document Map pane.
  3. To view the footnotes or endnotes in the note pane, click Footnotes on the View menu.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
