ACC2002: Error Message: Microsoft Access Is Unable to Start the Lookup Wizard (318809)

SYMPTOMS
When you try to use the Lookup Wizard for a data type of a field, you may receive the following error message:
Microsoft Access is unable to start the Lookup Wizard. The Lookup Wizard doesn't apply to fields of this data type.
CAUSE
The data type of a field was set to something other than Text, Number, or Yes/No before you started the Lookup Wizard.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, make sure that the Default field type box on the Tables/Queries tab of the Options dialog box is set to Text, Number, or Yes/No before you start the Lookup Wizard. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open your database in Access.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Tables/Queries tab.
- In the Default field type list, select Text, Number, or Yes/No.
- Click OK to close the Options dialog box.
