Error 0x80110805 When You Try to Install an Application Proxy (318528)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft COM+ 1.0, when used with:
    • the operating system: Microsoft Windows 2000

This article was previously published under Q318528

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install an application proxy on a Windows 2000-based client computer, you may receive the following error message:
One or more files do not contain components or type libraries. These components cannot be installed.
When you click OK, you receive the following error message:
Errors Occurred: One or more components cannot be installed
When you click Details, you receive the following error message:
The following components failed: Session 0x80110805. An unknown error occurred.

CAUSE

You cannot import proxy applications when the .msi package does not contain the .dll files that implement the pooled classes in their applications. Because the type library is not embedded in the .dll, the type library assumes that the class is marked apartment. When the class is saved into the catalog, you must ensure that the class is not marked apartment or single-threaded. If the class is marked apartment or single-threaded, the installation fails.
