32-Bit Color Images Are Not Displayed as Well in 16-Bit or 24-Bit Color Mode (317835)

SYMPTOMS

Desktop background images and other images may not be displayed as well if you are using a 16-bit or 24-bit color mode.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Windows XP desktop background images are optimized for 32-Bit Color mode.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this issue from occurring, use either of the following methods:
  • Change the display color quality to 32-Bit Color mode (note that some computers may require a lower screen resolution).
  • If your computer cannot use 32-Bit Color mode, set your Windows XP desktop theme to Windows Classic.
