  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 98

This article was previously published under Q317784

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to transfer a file by using an Infrared (IR) connection to a computer that is running Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition, the first attempt to transfer the file may fail. However, subsequent attempts to transfer files may succeed. If you restart the computer that is running Windows 98, the first file transfer to that computer by using an IR connection may again fail, with subsequent transfers completing successfully until you again restart the computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, cancel the failed attempt to send the file, and then resend the file to the computer that is running Windows 98.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
