PRB: The BizTalk Messaging Service Restarts After You Apply a Service Pack (317772)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002
This article was previously published under Q317772 SYMPTOMS
During the installation of a BizTalk Server 2000 service pack, the BizTalk Messaging Service stops temporarily. The BizTalk Messaging Service is restarted at the end of the service pack installation routine even if a reboot is required to complete the service pack installation. If there are pending documents in the BizTalk Work queue or Retry queue, BizTalk attempts to process these documents even though the service pack installation is not complete until after the BizTalk Server reboot occurs.
MORE INFORMATION
A BizTalk Server service pack installation may or may not require a reboot depending on the files that the service pack updates.
To ensure that BizTalk Server does not attempt to process any documents with an interim installation of the product, make sure the BizTalk Server Work and Retry queues are empty before you install any BizTalk Server service packs.
