Money: Error Message: Hresult=0x80046213 Some or All of Your Financial Planner Data Could Not Be Loaded (317738)

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Money and try to start it, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Hresult=0x80046213: Some or all of your financial planner data could not be loaded
Microsoft Money has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have a non-English version of Microsoft Windows installed on your computer, for example, the Korean version of Windows. This problem also occurs if you have the regional settings set to the Chinese language.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the regional settings of Windows to English (United States). To do this, follow these steps.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Note After you complete these steps, some or all of the other programs on the computer may not function with the English (United States) settings. If any of your other programs do not run, change the settings back to the original settings.

If these steps to do not resolve this issue, contact your manufacturer for a refund on your operating system.

Change the Regional Settings

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Regional Settings or Regional and Language Options.
  3. On the Advanced tab or the Regional Settings tab, click to select English (United States) in the "Language for non-Unicode programs" section.
  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  5. When prompted, restart your computer.
  6. When you get back to Windows, click Start, point to Find or Search, and then click For Files or Folders.

    Note In Windows XP, click All Files or Folders.
  7. In the Named box or the All or part of the file name box, type Sample.mny, and then click Find Now or Search.
  8. When the search process is complete, double-click Sample.mny.
  9. Click File, point to New, and then click New File.
  10. When the file is completely created, continue by using Money as expected.
