Pandora's Box: "Application Is Not Compatible with Windows XP" Error Message When You Start Game (317644)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Microsoft Pandora's Box 1.0, you may receive an error message that is similar to one of the following:

This application is not compatible with Windows XP. Please contact Microsoft for a update.

Pandora's Box has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update that is compatible with this version of Windows, contact Microsoft.

CAUSE

This issue may occur on some Pentium III or Pentium IV computers.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install the Pandora's Box Update for the game's English version (Pandora10a.exe), or for the French version (Pandora10a.exe), or for the Japanese version (PandoraJ10a.exe). To do this, see the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/games/pandorasbox/downloads.htm

The self-extracting, self-installing files install two modified files: the Pandora.exe file and the Langenu.dll file. The combined size of the downloaded files is approximately 1 megabyte (MB).

Note Pandora's Box Trial version does not work on Pentium III computers.
