FIX: Software Keyboard Component Does Not Work in Japanese Runtime (317609)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Japanese IME Soft Keyboard Program component does not provide functionality for the software keyboard that is provided as part of IME Pad on the Japanese Windows XP Professional (not embedded) product.

This Soft Keyboard Program component is located in the Software\System\International\Infrastructure category of the component browser window in Target Designer.

CAUSE

A dependency link is missing from the Microsoft Japanese IME core to the Active input method manager (IMM) Library component and the Terminal Services Framework (TSF) Shared Candidate User Interface Service component.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Download the Japanese Windows XP Embedded QFE Hotfix, Q317618.exe.The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.
Import this hotfix into the component database from which you build the Japanese runtime.
