FIX: Software Keyboard Component Does Not Work in Japanese Runtime (317609)

This article was previously published under Q317609 SYMPTOMS The Microsoft Japanese IME Soft Keyboard Program component
does not provide functionality for the software keyboard that is provided as
part of IME Pad on the Japanese Windows XP Professional (not embedded)
product.
This Soft Keyboard Program component is located in the
Software\System\International\Infrastructure category of the component browser
window in Target Designer. CAUSE A dependency link is missing from the Microsoft Japanese
IME core to the Active input method manager (IMM) Library component and the
Terminal Services Framework (TSF) Shared Candidate User Interface Service
component. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Download the Japanese Windows XP Embedded QFE Hotfix,
Q317618.exe.The following

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most
current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file

STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that
this is a problem in Japanese Windows XP Embedded.
