PRJ2000: Error 80040901 or 80040903 When You Register Microsoft Project (317602)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Project 2000 for the first time, and you attempt to register by using the Registration Wizard, you receive one of the following error messages:

Unable to process registration due to the following problem: Error #80040901 - Invalid PID format

-or-

Unable to process registration due to the following problem: Error #80040903 - Error Parsing Parameters

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you type the Installation ID or the 25-digit CD Key incorrectly.

RESOLUTION

Verify that the Installation ID and 25-digit CD Key are typed correctly. Note that the following characters are easily confused and may have been typed incorrectly:

B and 8
G and 6
