XCCC: OWA Search Returns No Results When the Search Text Contains Punctuation (317558)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q317558 SYMPTOMS
When you search Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) for Exchange 2000 to find a search string that is in quotation marks and that contains punctuation such as a comma, the search may not return any results.
For example, if you have a message in your mailbox with the subject "look, and listen" (not including the quotation marks), and you type "look, and listen" (including the quotation marks) in the OWA Search dialog box, OWA does not return the message in the search results.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, remove the quotation marks from the search string. After you do so, OWA returns the message as expected.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
