SUMMARY

This article describes the network address translation (NAT) editors that are included in Windows 2000.

Windows 2000 includes built-in NAT editors for the following protocols:
  • File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
  • Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP)
  • Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
Additionally, the NAT routing protocol includes proxy software for the following protocols:
  • H.323 out to the Internet
  • Direct Play out to the Internet
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)-based Internet Locator Service (ILS) registration out to the Internet
NOTE: You cannot perform translation of Internet Protocol security (IPSec) traffic on client computers that are running Windows 2000 and earlier.
