PRJ2000: "Server.CreateObject Access" Error Message When You Log On to Microsoft Project Central (317467)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to log on to Microsoft Project Central, you may receive the following error message:
Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'
Server.CreateObject Access Error
/ProjectCentral/global.asa, line 7
The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the Everyone group does not have Full Control permissions to the following folders:

C:\Project Central

-and

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSADC

RESOLUTION

  1. Start Windows Explorer.
  2. Browse to the Project Central folder, which is usually located at the root of drive C (C:\Project Central).
  3. Right-click the Project Central folder, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.
  4. In the Project Central Properties dialog box, click the Security tab, and then verify that the Everyone group is present with Full Control permissions.
  5. If the Everyone group is not present with Full Control permissions, follow these steps:
    1. Click Add, and then type Everyone in the bottom area of the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box.
    2. Click OK.
    3. Ensure that the Full Control check box in the Allow column is selected.
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the following folder:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSADC
