XFOR: You Cannot View the Queues for Connectors on a Front-End Exchange 2000 Server (317418)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q317418 SYMPTOMS
On a front-end server that is running Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2 (SP2), you may not be able to use Exchange System Manager to view the queues for the Microsoft Exchange Development Kit (EDK) connectors.
The connectors for which queues are no longer visible are:
- The Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes
- The Microsoft Exchange Connector for Novell GroupWise
- The Microsoft Exchange Connector for Lotus cc:Mail
When you try to view the queues for these connectors in Exchange System Manager, you can view the queue's object. However, when you try to expand the object, no queue objects are listed and the plus sign next to the queue's object disappears. NOTE: The functionality of these connectors is not affected because the queues are not viewable.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the following services do not run on front-end servers in Exchange 2000 SP2 and later:
- DSProxy (RFR service and NSPI Proxy)
- Offline Address Book generation
- Free Busy Service
- Recipient Update Service
- The Mailbox Clean task
This issue occurs because of changes to DSProxy in Exchange 2000 SP2.
